Governor Jeff Landry’s Regional Director of Government and Community Relations, Azar Kayal, joined fire investigators from across Louisiana during the Louisiana Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (LA IAAI) Northern Training Day held in Alexandria.

The one-day training focused on the chemistry of fire, providing investigators with a deeper understanding of fire behavior and the science behind fire investigations. Instruction was led by fire investigation expert Brian Ramsey, with Kayal participating alongside investigators.

Representatives from multiple state and local agencies, as well as private fire investigators, attended the training, which emphasized the importance of continuing education and interagency collaboration in advancing fire investigation practices across Louisiana.

According to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal, the training highlighted the value of working together, learning together, and strengthening the ability of fire investigators to serve and protect communities across the state.
