The Louisiana Christian men’s basketball team is on a heater after posting its fifth straight victory Thursday night at H.O. West Fieldhouse, an 82-71 Red River Athletic Conference triumph over North American, using a balanced attack with four double-figure scorers.
The Wildcats (8-9 overall, 7-6 in RRAC) are above .500 in the conference for the first time since ending the 2021-22 campaign at 8-7. North American slipped to 8-13, 4-12.
Bryce Weinmunson hit double-digits in scoring for the 10th time in 2024-25, tying for the game’s most points with 17, hitting a season-best seven field goals in 12 attempts including 6-of-7 from inside the arc.
Joseph Holloway also drained a season-high seven buckets as he posted a career-best of 16 points, sinking 7-for-11 shos plus adding five rebounds to his line.
Devin Carter, posting double figures (12 points) for the 13th consecutive outing, was a jack-of-all-trades on the night as he recorded season-bests in both rebounds (7) and assists (5).
Jon’Quarius McGhee rounded out the double-figure scoring party with a dozen of his own, doing so in a span of just 16 minutes off the bench. Reigning RRAC Defender of the Week Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai led all players at nine boards plus two blocks.
The winning streak can reach a half-dozen if the Wildcats can take care of business in a “trap game” versus Huston-Tillotson at 3 p.m. on Saturday as long as they do not look ahead to Tuesday’s huge Red River Rivalry contest at home in H.O. West Fieldhouse against fourth-ranked LSUA.
NORTH AMERICAN 89, LCU WOMEN 82 (OT): In a battle with 10 lead changes, the visitors took a one-point edge in OT then scored the game’s last six points in the final 48 seconds while the Wildcats committed three turnover in that decisive span.
LCU (5-10 overall, 5-8 in RRAC games) made just two of eight shots in the extra five minutes. North American rose to 9-10 overall and 7-9 in the conference.
Princis Goff topped the Wildcats with 23 points.
Deja Tanks scored 17 and snagged 14 rebounds off the bench. Kylei Leblac contributed a season/contest-high 14 rebounds and 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting with four blocked shots in addition to two steals and assists apiece.
