Mrs. Bula Mae Davis Dobernig, age 77, of Dry Prong, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 2, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her girls. She was born on February 24, 1949, in Lyons, Mississippi.

A memorial visitation will be held at a later date at Gallagher Funeral Home.

Bula is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Francis Dobernig; and her siblings, Billy Jay Davis, Chester Wayne Davis, Walter Earnest Davis, Jr. and Elsie Ruth Brewer.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving daughters, Vickie Dobernig and Sharon VanDevelde; grandchildren, Christopher Dobernig and Aiyana VanDevelde; great grandchildren, Ala’Chay Wells, Ava’Mae Wells, and Kaladin McCrea; siblings, Frank Davis, Charles Davis, Charlene Davis and Joanna Gikas; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends with a special mention to Kelly Michelle, who is her special niece that was with her quite often.

Bula Mae led a beautiful life filled with love, service, laughter, and light. She was a woman with a heart of gold whose joy was contagious and whose presence could bring smiles and happiness to every room she entered. She had a genuine love for people and made friends wherever life took her. Her kindness, warmth, and beautiful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.

Above all, Bula Mae was a faithful and praying mother. She believed in the power of prayer and faithfully lifted her family and friends up in prayer, never missing an opportunity to ask the Lord to watch over those she loved. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Bula Mae had a special love for music and singing, especially enjoying the sounds of the Oak Ridge Boys. Her love of music even gave her the opportunity to sing on stage in Tennessee, a memory she cherished. She also found great happiness in the outdoors, especially tending to her flower garden. She appreciated the simple and beautiful things in life, finding joy in a blooming flower, a favorite song, a good laugh, and the company of those around her.

A determined and hardworking woman, Bula Mae never allowed herself to be limited by what others might consider too late to pursue a dream. She attended beauty school and went on to teach at the very school where she had learned her craft. She later opened and operated her own beauty shop, sharing her talents and building friendships along the way. At the age of 40, she returned to school once again, this time pursuing her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She went on to serve others as a nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she remained until her retirement. Her life was truly a testament to determination, compassion, and a heart for serving others.

Bula Mae will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, a faithful and praying mother, a gifted singer and gardener, and a woman whose joy and kindness touched every life she encountered. Her laughter, her songs, her prayers, and the love she shared will remain treasured memories in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Bula Mae’s light will continue to shine through every song sung, every flower that blooms, and every heart she touched. Her beautiful legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on for generations to come.
