LCU professors, students have art accepted into national show

Two Louisiana Christian University art professors and three art students have had their works accepted into River Oaks Square Arts Center’s 11th Annual 5x5x5 Show.

More than 185 artists submitted pieces for the small art spectacle, which includes works from artists across the country. All works must fit into the 5x5x5 dimensions.

Hannah Fulton, assistant professor of art, had two paintings, “Bluegill” and “Pumpkinseed Sunfish,” accepted. Michael Williams, assistant professor of art, had a sculpture, “Bolt,” and a painting, “Ocelot,” accepted.

Three art students also had work accepted into the show. Skyler Maples, of New Iberia, and Olivia Huffman, of Pineville, each had a piece accepted, and Juliette Elsayed, of Moreauville, had three artworks chosen.

“We have been working hard to encourage our students to put themselves out there and submit their work to exhibitions,” Williams said. “This show is national in scope, with artists from across the country invited to apply, so having three of our college students accepted is an incredible accomplishment. I couldn’t be prouder of them and all the hard work that led to this moment.”

Tyler Barnes, originally from Alexandria, Louisiana, and an associate professor of art at the University of Mississippi, will serve as guest juror.

The show opens Nov. 13 at River Oaks Square Arts Center and runs through Feb. 6, 2027.
