Eckerd Connects’ Opportunity Youth Program recently recognized a milestone as participant Colton became the first individual in the program to graduate from the CLTCC at RAPPS HiSET Program.
Before joining the Eckerd Opportunity Youth Program, which is funded by The Rapides Foundation, Colton faced barriers to education and career development.
With assistance from his case manager and community partners, Colton enrolled in the HiSET program, developed skills and successfully earned his credential.
Colton is now preparing for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) as he pursues his goal of entering military service.
He credited his accomplishment to the encouragement and support of his grandmother, probation officer, Eckerd case manager and teachers at CLTCC.
The Eckerd Opportunity Youth Program assists individuals ages 16-24 who face barriers to education or employment, connecting them with resources and opportunities to pursue their educational and career goals.
