Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Sugar House Road Extension in Alexandria

The City of Alexandria and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will hold a public hearing Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4-7 p.m. at Frank O. Hunter Basketball Gym, 2399 Willow Glen River Road. The hearing will address the proposed Sugar House Road Extension, which would create a connector route between Louisiana Highway 1, Interstate 49, U.S. 167 and U.S. 71. Residents can review the project’s draft environmental assessment, examine the preferred route and provide comments. Project representatives will be available to answer questions.
DOTD Implements 12-Foot Lane Width Restriction on Highway 115 Near Deville

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has implemented a 12-foot lane width restriction along a five-mile construction zone on Louisiana Highway 115 between highways 1207 and 28 near Deville. Vehicles wider than 12 feet must use an alternate route. The restriction is part of an ongoing $4.7 million roadway improvement project that includes base repairs, asphalt resurfacing and new pavement markings. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and reduced speeds while construction continues. The project, awarded to Gilchrist Construction Company LLC, is expected to be completed this fall, weather permitting.
