As soon as the 2026 schedules for Sooner Athletic Conference football were announced, a few games stood out.
Texas Wesleyan at Louisiana Christian, Oct. 10, was definitely one of them.
Kickoff of Saturday’s battle atop the SAC against the Rams is set for 2 p.m. at Wildcat Field. It will be live streamed thanks to 446Sports on YouTube through the 446Sports YouTube page and the Urban Edge Network.
Moved up to 16th in the national polls this week, the Wildcats line up against one of the other two teams who also shared the 2025 conference championship, and the team that earned the SAC’s automatic bid into the NAIA Football Championship Series, Texas Wesleyan.
The game has been designated as the SAC’s Game of the Week.
Louisiana Christian (5-1, 3-0 SAC) is coming off a 50-36 homecoming win over the NCAA Division III East Texas Baptist Tigers last Saturday, retaining the Border Claw trophy from the rivalry the two schools had during LCU’s NCAA D3 days.
Tioga product Travis Adams, a sophomore running back, took back all the momentum East Texas Baptist thought it garnered by scoring a touchdown on its opening drive of the second half by returning the ensuing kickoff back 92 yards for a Wildcat touchdown, reestablishing a 16-point LCU lead at 37-21. That effort earned Adams the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor announced Tuesday.
The Rams (3-2, 3-0 SAC) received votes in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 and, after an 0-2 start, have won three-straight contests. TXWES defeated Arkansas Baptist, 34-27, in Little Rock last Saturday afternoon.
Both the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll and the Victory Sports Network media poll advanced the Wildcats this week. They stayed at 14th in the NAIAFBall Media Top 25.
