About 120 educators from across Central Louisiana gathered in Alexandria last week for the in-person kickoff of the 2026-27 K-5 Numeracy Professional Development program.

The Orchard Foundation, the education affiliate of The Rapides Foundation, partnered with The Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas at Austin for the yearlong professional learning series focused on strengthening K-5 mathematics instruction and supporting educators in schools.

The group will continue learning virtually in October and November before returning for in-person training in December. The program continues through June.

By investing in educators and strengthening the quality of teaching, The Orchard Foundation is helping build a stronger foundation for student success in mathematics across Central Louisiana.
