Memorial services for Barbara Jean Olson Driessen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Pineville First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Austin Rinehart officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Driessen, 85, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Hilltop Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pineville, Louisiana.

Barbara was born on August 20, 1941, to Judine and Martha Olsen in Beresford, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm south of Beresford. Barbara attended grade school at Brule Country School and high school in Beresford. She attended Rosepine Lutheran Church all her growing-up years. After high school, Barbara went to Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, later working for a local law firm.

In Sioux Falls, Barbara met Jim Driessen, her future husband. They started their family there and subsequently lived in Canton and Huron before moving to Pineville, Louisiana, in 1978.

For many years, Barbara worked for Dr. Goodien in Alexandria. She attended Pineville First United Methodist Church and enjoyed the many activities with a church circle. Barbara was an avid and talented artist, producing many beautiful paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. She also enjoyed line dancing and Tai Chi.

Barbara, with her beautiful smile, was the sweetest, kindest, and most gracious little lady you could ever meet.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband, James Driessen; one son, Brian Driessen; and one daughter, Julie Driessen.
