Mrs. Emma Sue Grayson Dauzat, affectionately known by family and friends as Sue, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Rapides Regional Hospital.
Visitation for Sue will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00-12:00 pm. The service for Sue will be held at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Jack Powell officiating. Buril will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Mason and Vivan Grayson and her sister, Francis Dango.
Those left to cherish and celebrate her memories are her husband of 64 years, Earnest Dauzat; her sons, John and Paul Dauzat; her grandchildren, Travis Dauzat (Kelly), Brandi Scallan (Jamie), and John Dauzat, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Abel, Brayden, Aimee, Rowen, and Viviana, and brother-in-law, Jerry Ryland.
Sue was born on September 25, 1943, in Bunkie, Louisiana. She dedicated her life to caring for others and was a respected and beloved registered nurse at Rapides Regional Hospital for 30 years. During her distinguished nursing career, she served as the former Head Nurse in Pediatrics, where her compassion, knowledge, and genuine love for her young patients touched countless lives.
Sue earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern State University, further reflecting her commitment to excellence in her profession and to the people she served.
Outside of her career, Sue found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress who enjoyed creating beautiful pieces with her own hands. She also loved to travel, with cruises being among her favorite adventures. She cherished the opportunity to see new places, make memories, and enjoy time away with those she loved.
Sue will be remembered for her caring heart, dedication to her nursing profession, creativity, and love of family and friends. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on in the many lives she touched throughout her years as a nurse and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
