Kimberly Elaine Emory, age 56, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on August 5, 2026.
A Memorial Service celebrating Kim’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Palestine Methodist Church, Tioga, LA, officiated by Pastor Kevin Smith. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.
Kim is preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” Emory; her maternal grandparents, Marshall and Thelma Braswell, Columbus, GA; and her paternal grandparents, Col. George and Josephine Emory, East Point, GA.
She is survived by her mother, Judith Emory Bruce and her second father, Norman P. Bruce, Sr. of Pineville, LA; her sister, Sherri Eddlemon (Jeff) of Hineston, LA; her niece, Katie Eddlemon; her nephew, Robert Bruce (Jacie); her companion, Michael McBride; her fur babies, Milo and Stitch; her Aunt and Uncle, Ron and DeeDee Braswell; cousins, Melissa Becker, Bryan Braswell, Michael Mattheis, Cathy Riley, and Christy Emory; and a host of friends.
Kim graduated from Pineville High School and Louisiana Tech University. While at Tech, Kim was a member of the marching band, The Band of Pride, the flag line, the concert band and Tau Beta Sigma sorority.
Kim began her career at Pinecrest State School, Pineville, LA. Later she attended Louisiana College where she earned her teaching credentials. Kim taught several schools in Rapides Parish, including Peabody High School, where she organized the flag line. While under her direction, the flag line earned numerous awards throughout the state. Kim completed her career at The Youth Challenge Program, Camp Beauregard, where she also organized the first flag line, and received the Commandment Award for Outstanding Teacher. She taught the youth Sunday School Class at Palestine Methodist Church. Kim loved her students and poured herself into helping them learn and grow.

Kim had a personality that could never be duplicated. She was truly a once in a lifetime person. She never met a stranger; she lit up a room when entered it. She loved books – was always reading and encouraging others to read. She maintained a “library” of more than 300 books in all of her classrooms, and everyone was welcomed to take a book and read.
Kim lived her life in her own unique way and that is how she will be remembered.
