Funeral services for Mr. Harrison Moreau Jr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Tioga First Baptist Church, Tioga, Louisiana with the Reverend David Cranford and Tim Hisaw officiating. Interment will be in Tioga First Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.
Harrison. age 93, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa.
Today, we celebrate the life of our beloved father, Harrison Moreau, and give thanks for the incredible man he was. We are deeply grateful for the love, strength, guidance and unwavering support he gave to our family throughout his life. His example of hard work, perseverance, and devotion will continue to inspire generations to come.
Dad remained independent, determined and strong-willed until the very end. He never lost his sense of humor, his resilience, or his love for his family.
Harrison was born August 15, 1932 in Colfax, Louisiana. At the young age of 17, Harrison proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he faithfully served his country for 21 years. During his distinguished military career, he served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and later during the Vietnam War. His assignments took him throughout the world, including Germany, Japan, Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Alabama; Fort Wainwright, Alaska and finally in Vietnam . He served with honor and dedication and his military service remained one of the greatest sources of pride in his life.
On January 10, 1956, Harrison married the love of his life, Alice Eveline McBroom. Together they built a loving home and raised eight children, creating a legacy rooted in faith, family, sacrifice and love.
After retiring from the Army, Harrison began working for the USPS (United States Postal Service) in Alexandria LA, where he worked for 21 years until his retirement. His retirement years were spent with Alice enjoying their camp in Toledo Bend. There they spent their time fishing and hosting family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Eveline McBroom Moreau; his sons, Harrison “Bill” Moreau III and Joseph Albert Moreau; his daughter, Diana Leona Moreau Bergeaux; his parents, Harrison Moreau, Sr. and Vernice Ola Ferrier Moreau Waters; his brothers, Bobby Gene Moreau, Lester Moreau, and Doyle Moreau; and his sisters, Elsie Hyde, Edna L. Evans, Elaine Dalme and Minnie Pearl Walker.
He is survived by his children: Darrell Moreau (Debbie) of Lafayette, Louisiana; Terry Ussery of Tioga, Louisiana; David Moreau (Kristen) of Clive, Iowa; Steven Moreau (Tonya) of Tioga, Louisiana; Christopher Moreau (Corrie) of Seattle, Washington; and Edith Hartmann (Willi) of Germany. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, his sister Jerline Short, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Dad’s presence was larger than life, and the impact he made on all who knew him will never be forgotten. He will be remembered with gratitude, admiration and deep respect. His legacy of courage, determination, and faithfulness will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
As we honor his life today, let us remember not only the tears we shed, but also the countless blessings he gave us. His life was long, his life was full, and he worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and children.
If there is one lesson Dad leaves behind, it is this:
Never give up, even when life becomes difficult.
Face every challenge with courage, determination, and hope.
Be like Harrison-always strive to do better, love your family fiercely and never stop moving forward.
Dad, your duty is complete, your work is finished, and your legacy lives on in each of us.
You will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
