The Rapides Foundation will host its 2026 Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 3, featuring educator and Harlem Children’s Zone founder Geoffrey Canada as the keynote speaker.

The symposium will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Randolph Riverfront Center in Alexandria. Lunch will be served.

Canada was named one of the world’s most influential people by Time magazine in 2011 for his work helping children and families succeed through education. As founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone, he developed an approach supporting children from cradle to career that has influenced communities across the country.

During the symposium, Canada will discuss creating opportunities for children, families and communities to thrive, drawing on decades of experience to share lessons on creating pathways to success for every child and strengthening communities.
