Funeral services for Mrs. Sherry Johnson Vercher will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverends Frank Peacock and Delbert Cates officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Colfax, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mrs. Vercher, 78, of Colfax, entered eternal rest on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Tioga Community Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister. She found great happiness in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed taking fun trips to the casino. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, creating lasting memories with those she loved most. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Clamar Vercher, Sr.; her parents, Newton and Leola Johnson; five brothers, Menden Johnson, Huey Johnson, Hershel Johnson, J.H. Johnson, and Norman Johnson; and seven sisters, Lucille Bimbo, Velma Futurell, Almarie Whitstine, Sybil McDonald, Maxine Mitchelle, Dorothy Lyles, and Geneva Hyde.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Carl Clamar Vercher, Jr. (Tressie) of Colfax; one daughter, Karen Carlette Harris (Zane) of Henryetta, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Duston Vercher (Suzanne) and Lance Nolan (Kaylan); two granddaughters, Devin Rawlings (Brian) and MaKayla Simmons (Tyler); seven great grandchildren; and her fur baby, Harley.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Duston Vercher, Lance Nolan, Tyler Simmons, Brian Rawlings, Buster Garner, and Clay Nolan. Honorary pallbearer will be Jamie Hyde.
