Remembering George Guin

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. George Guin will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Bay Springs Baptist Church, Chopin with Pastors Michael Dubois and Dwight St. Andre officiating. Interment will follow in Bay Spring Cemetery, Chopin.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the church from 5-9PM and will resume Friday, July 3, 2026 at 9:00AM until time of services.

Mr. Guin of Lena, age 92, departed this world on Monday, June 29, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on March 13, 1934 to the union of Orelia Beebe and Gilly William Guin in Lena, Louisiana. George married Gavil Dubois and they were married for sixty-eight years and had two children together.

He was called “Georgie” by his long-time friends. He began his adult life by serving his country in the United States Navy for six years. He was a salesman at Davidson’s for thirty-eight years and retired from McNeal’s Lumber in Alexandria.

George loved to play music, especially an acoustic guitar. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orelia and Gilly Guin; his brothers, Cammie Guin, Gordon Guin, Jim Guin, Randall Guin; his sisters, Delsie Guin Dubois and Verna Guin Burke.

George is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gavil Dubois Guin; his son, Bret R Guin (Frances); his daughter, Maxine Guin; his sister, Frances Guin Mattingly; his grandchildren, Jordan Guin, Emily Waits, Olivia Waits; his sweet dog, Chloe and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom are mourning his loss.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Jordan Guin, Casey Basco, Corey Basco, Joe Basco, Raygan Beebe, Ryan Beebe, and Kyle Arnold.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Marcantel and Ryan Mullins.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to True Home Health and Premiere Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Mr. George and his family and a special thanks to Ms. Goff and Alicia.
