Pineville Police set ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ enforcement ahead of Independence Day holiday

The Pineville Police Department will participate in a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign from July 2 through July 6, 2026, as part of a national traffic safety initiative funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The enforcement period is aimed at reducing impaired driving during the Independence Day holiday, a time when traffic volumes and travel-related risks typically increase across Louisiana roadways.

Officials emphasized the importance of planning ahead for safe transportation options and avoiding impaired driving. The department reminded motorists to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin and to avoid getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or other impairing substances.

Authorities also urged the public to prioritize safety during holiday festivities, noting that enforcement efforts will be increased throughout the campaign period.

The Pineville Police Department stated that the goal of the initiative is to help ensure safer roads and prevent impaired-driving-related crashes during the holiday weekend.
