Medical Center announces appointment of new chief medical officer

Rapides Regional Medical Center announced the appointment of Dr. Taylor Bertschy, DO, as its new Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Bertschy joins the Alexandria-based hospital from Wichita, Kansas, where she served as a clinical associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency program. She also most recently served as the 2026 President of HCA Healthcare’s Wesley Medical Center Medical Staff.

She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, in 2012 and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita in 2016. Her academic background also includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Arkansas, earned in 2008.

In addition, Dr. Bertschy completed a Master’s Degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2024.

Hospital officials welcomed her to the leadership role, noting her clinical experience and academic background as key assets to the organization’s continued medical operations and patient care initiatives.
