Public Works pay on PJ agenda today
By JIM BUTLER
Police jurors will set the salary of the newly hired parish public works director at its meeting today.
At a special meeting last Monday the jury voted to hire Bama Hinton, a longtime veteran of the construction and construction-related industries.
Jurors will also consider a recommended one-year probationary period related to the hire.
Among a number of appointments on the agenda are those of Jane Arrington, District A, and Morris Taft Thomas, District D, to the Library Board of Control for new five-year terms.
Reappointment is necessary under parish ordinance. Each jury district has one appointment to the nine-member board.
John Lewis Vanmol Jr.’s appointment to the Central Louisiana Port Authority is also on the agenda.
That four-year term will begin July 21. The jury, cities of Alexandria and Pineville and town of Boyce appoint the commissioners.
