On June 4, 2026 at approximately 2:40 PM, Patrol Deputies responded to the 6400 block Bouef Trace, Alexandria, in reference to a reported disturbance between a male and female, allegedly involving a weapon.
While deputies were on the way to this address, they were advised that both the suspect and the victim had left the area in separate vehicles.
Contact was eventually made with the victim who advised the suspect, identified as Stephen Dwayne Triggs, Jr. , 32 of Alexandria, hit them in the face with an object, possibly a firearm. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
While attempting to serve a search warrant at the scene on Bouef Trace, Detectives observed a male subject fitting the description of Triggs in the doorway of the residence. When they attempted to contact Triggs, he retreated into the residence and refused to come and speak to Detectives.
Deputies and Detectives continued to speak with Triggs by phone in an attempt to get him to surrender but he continued to refuse to exit the residence.
Due to information gathered from their investigation, Detectives believed the suspect may be armed with children in the residence. Due to this new information, Detectives requested the assistance of RPSO SWAT in the apprehension of the barricaded suspect.
RPSO SWAT arrived on scene and continued negotiations. After a brief standoff, the suspect came out and was taken into custody without further incident. So far, no weapons were recovered.
As their investigation continued, Detectives determined the victim, identified as Stephanie Jones, 33, was also an alleged aggressor, and when she returned to the scene after Triggs was in custody, she placed under arrest as well.
As of tonight, both Triggs and Jones will be charged for Domestic Abuse Battery with a child present. Triggs will also be charged with a Probation Violation.
Both subjects will be booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and, at this time, booking photos are unavailable.
Sheriff’s Detectives say there investigation is still ongoing at the time of this release.
