ASH graduate accepted to all three U.S. military service academies

Alexandria Senior High School graduate Clark Wright achieved a rare distinction this year, earning acceptance to all three major U.S. military service academies: the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Wright said he applied to all three institutions after discussions with mentors and family members, allowing him to compare opportunities before making a final decision about his future.

Admission to a military academy requires candidates to meet rigorous academic, physical and leadership standards. Wright earned acceptance by maintaining a strong GPA and ACT score, passing a physical fitness assessment and securing nominations from members of Louisiana’s congressional delegation.

After weighing his options, Wright selected the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He plans to major in aeronautical engineering and pursue his goal of becoming a pilot.

Upon graduating from the academy, Wright will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and will serve at least five years on active duty.

Wright credited his family with helping shape his work ethic and perseverance. An Eagle Scout, he follows in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and several cousins who also earned the rank. Two of his uncles are graduates of West Point and served as colonels in the military.

During his time at Alexandria Senior High, Wright participated in cross country and sought out leadership opportunities while preparing for a future of military service.

He encouraged future academy applicants to pursue leadership roles and surround themselves with people who challenge them to improve and achieve their goals.

School officials congratulated Wright on his accomplishment and wished him success as he begins his journey at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
