
Three members of the Surgery Department at Rapides Regional Medical Center recently traveled to Nepal as part of a medical missionary team providing surgical care to patients in need.
Kalli Crutchfield, BSN, RN, Sinae Baek, BSN, RN, and Lacey Simmering, BSN, RN, perioperative services manager, joined a team led by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Timmothy Randell. Also participating were Cole Rutherford, CRNA, and James Thomas, FNP.
A total of 13 medical professionals took part in the six-day mission trip. During their time in Nepal, the team performed 10 total knee replacement surgeries, one tibial plateau fracture repair and one cyst excision. Additional patients received non-surgical medical treatment.
Hospital officials said they are proud of the team’s efforts to provide care and make a difference in the lives of patients abroad.
