With deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who entered into eternal rest at the age of 87. Kenneth Dalton Preuett born May 7, 1939, departed his temporary home here on May 12, 2026, to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in his forever home.
Visitation Mr. Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at 10:00 AM with service to follow at 11:30 AM at Philadelphia Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Granvel Preuett and Era Inez Brister Preuett. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Martha Hebert Preuett, daughters, Belinda Phillips (Randy), Candace LaCour (George “Capp”), grandchildren Kenneth Phillips (Elizabeth), Joseph Phillips and Ava LaCour Granger (Jonathan), great grandchildren, Harper Centanni and Eleanor Phillips. He is also survived by brothers Charles Preuett (Gayle), Norman Preuett (Joyce) and sister Frances Bromley.
A devoted follower of Christ, he lived a life marked by faith, humility, and service. He faithfully served his church as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, youth leader, and Gideon, always sharing God’s Word with a willing heart.
His strong work ethic began at age 17 after graduating from Dry Prong High School where he worked at Pic N’ PAC. He went on to serve 10 years in the Army National Guard in construction and artillery. His lifelong sales career began in automotive parts and later grew into industrial chemical sales, where – alongside his wife – he started and built two successful companies.
He was a man of many self-taught and natural talents and passions – a skilled ham radio operator, electronics enthusiast, licensed private pilot, woodworker and pen turner, and musician. Whatever he did, he did with care, curiosity, and joy.
He loved his family deeply, guiding them with wisdom, patience, and steadfast faith. His life reflected Christ’s love in both word and action.
Though he will be greatly missed, we find comfort in God’s promise of eternal life and rejoice that he is now in the presence of his Savior.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
Tribute donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Philadelphia Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International in lieu of flowers to honor his legacy of faith, service and love that will live on in all who knew him.
