Genesis 28:15: ” I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go and I will bring you back to this land.”
A Visitation celebrating the life of Janice “Jan” Brown will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, LA.
Janice “Jan” Ilene Henley Brown was an amazing and funny mother, daughter, sister, and DeeDee. She wore all of those hats and more. She was an avid reader and “yearned for knowledge”. She always said that. Growing up in Jena, she would go to school and come home to play school. She was definitely a nerd. She loved loud. She was loud. Everyone knew when she entered a room from her laugh, shout, or her amazing fashion. She was a big dog lover. From Ginger who always got her own bottle root beer to Sugar who was the apple of her eye. She loved LSU and the Saints. She never met a stranger. The second you were in her orbit, you were a friend. She was “momma” to many, “J” or “Aunt J” to many family members, or “Red” from her signature red hair. Most importantly, she loved her Lord. She witnessed to anyone who would listen. She is now singing (on key) with all the angels in heaven and praising as she did here on earth. May we all be more loud and loving as she was and never forget her.
She has preceded in death by her parents Carlos Henley, Jr. and Doris Keen Domingues; brother, Tommy Henley; sister, Laura Elliot; great grandson, Aybll William Brown.
Those left to cherish Jan’s memory include her daughters, Courtney Lacheney and husband Darren, and Nicki Brown; brother, Carlos Henley and wife Betty; grandchildren, Brooke Brister and husband Trey, Andrew Brown and wife Lyndsey, and Darren Lacheney, III; great grandchildren, Daylon Deville, Aceton Pritchard, Alaric Brown and Annahliece Brown.
