A School Resource Officer took a complaint on March 12 from school officials about suspected child abuse involving a student and a teacher at a local school. The SRO took the initial report and Sheriff’s Detectives were assigned the case for further investigation.

Sheriff’s Detectives, along with the assistance of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, made contact with the juvenile victim and started their investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, Sheriff’s Detectives contacted the Children’s Advocacy Center for their assistance in conducting a forensic interview of the victim.

From their investigation, including the results of the forensic interview, Sheriff’s Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for 1 count Cruelty to Juveniles for the suspect, identified as Angela Lacey Hoosier, 43 of Deville.

As the investigation continued, Sheriff’s Detectives were able to locate more evidence of other incidents of the alleged child abuse with the same child. Detectives secured the evidence and were able to establish sufficient probable cause for two more counts of Cruelty to Juveniles against Hoosier.

Sheriff’s Detectives located Hoosier on March 20 at her residence where she was taken into custody without incident and placed under arrest. Hoosier was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for a total of three counts of Cruelty to Juveniles. Hoosier remains in jail at the time of this release being held on a $3,000 bond.

Sheriff’s Detectives have no evidence that these incidents occurred during school or on school property and the victim was not a student of the suspect.
