The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the City of Alexandria advises the public that beginning Monday, Feb. 10 at 7am, weather permitting, Progressive Construction Company will continue with the removal and replacement of sections of concrete pavement on Elliott Street.

On Monday, at the intersection of Elliott Street and Texas Avenue, the section of roadway on Elliott Street, just north of Texas Avenue (headed towards Bolton Avenue) will be closed for repairs. Signs and barricades will be installed, along with signs indicating detour routes around this intersection. It is recommended that motorist avoid this location to prevent delays due to this ongoing construction.

Wednesday, Feb. 12, weather permitting, the contractor will begin the removal and replacement of concrete roadway panels on Elliott Street, between Texas Avenue and the MacArthur Drive service road.

This ongoing reconstruction of the concrete pavement will last for approximately 7 -10 working days. During this time, traffic on Elliott Street will be severely limited; however, one (1) lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. There will be significant delays to motorist if they attempt to transit up or down Elliott Street, between Texas Avenue and the MacArthur Drive service road. However, there will be signs and barricades, along with detour route signs, to guide motorist of they choose to utilize this section of Elliott Street.
