ASH’s rally past West Monroe maintains Trojans’ place in 5A poll
Alexandria Senior High had to rally in its District 2-5A opener last Friday to stay unbeaten, and the Trojans did in a 45-35 victory over perennial power West Monroe.
As a result, undefeated ASH stayed put right in the middle of the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association’s Class 5A Top 10 poll released Monday.
Twelve LSWA members who cover high school football across the state vote each week on the polls in five classifications.
The Trojans travel this Friday, but not very far, crossing the Red River to meet the Pineville Rebels (3-3, 0-1). It could be a “trap game” since next week, ASH will host top-ranked Ruston, the defending state champions in Non-Select Division I.
No other parish team is receiving votes in the polling. Nearby Bunkie has moved up to No. 2 in Class 3A.
