Tragedy has occurred again at a Third Street convenience store.

Alexandria police are working leads in a fatal shooting Tuesday night at the site.

Responding to a report about 11 p.m. officers found Verna Francis, 58, fatally wounded.

The scene, Chi Town Gas and Grocery, at Willow Glen River Road, is a 24-hour retail location.

It was the site of a tragedy on Valentine’ Day 2017.

Timothy Teasley, 25, upset about his girlfriend being reported for alleged shoplifting, entered the store with gun in hand and started shooting.

An employee, Thair Zdan, was killed; another escaped to a back room while being shot at.

Five years later, September 2022, Teasley was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
