Runoff Expected to Decide Alexandria’s Next Mayor
Under Louisiana’s majority-vote election system, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the vote to win outright. When no candidate reaches that threshold, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes advance to a runoff.
Roy received approximately 48.8% of the votes cast, while Larvadain received approximately 41.4%.
Davis, who received approximately 9.8% of the vote, will not advance to the runoff based on the reported results.
The runoff will present Alexandria voters with a two-candidate contest between Roy and Larvadain to determine who will serve as the city’s next mayor.
Both candidates are Democrats.
