The Pineville Police Department arrested an individual for criminal trespass after responding to a report of a person wearing a ghillie suit and carrying weapons near railroad tracks along Military Highway.
According to the department, a concerned citizen reported seeing an individual crouching in bushes near the railroad tracks while reportedly armed with a crossbow and rifle.
Several officers responded to the area and used drones to locate the individual. Officers confirmed that the person was carrying both weapons.
Police tracked the individual, who appeared to be pacing along the railroad tracks, before making contact and resolving the situation without further incident.
The individual was subsequently arrested for criminal trespass.
Police said the individual’s intentions remain unclear, although the circumstances suggested the person may have been hunting.
The department reminded residents that railroad tracks and surrounding rights-of-way are generally private property or subject to restricted access. Individuals should not enter these areas without authorization.
Police also emphasized that hunting near residential areas can create safety concerns and reminded residents to follow applicable hunting laws and local restrictions.
The Pineville Police Department thanked the citizen who reported the suspicious activity, noting that the information allowed officers to respond and investigate the situation.
