Remembering Donald L. Jowers

Mr. Donald L. Jowers, affectionately known to most as “Jody,” age 65, of Deville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 19, 2026.

A memorial service will be held ON Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 am at Palmer Chapel Memorial Church, 895 Williams Lake Rd. in Pineville.

Jody is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Sr. and Mayme Jowers; and his brothers, Danny Jowers and Elbert Jowers, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 35 years, Pam Carson Jowers; daughter, Danielle Dunlap (Jonathan); granddaughter, Madalyn Dunlap; siblings, Josh Jowers (Theresa) and Jo Ann York (Robert); and his loyal fur babies, Diego and Dolly.

Jody was a one-of-a-kind soul, a free spirit with a heart that never quite left the 1970s. He lived life in his own way, embracing the things that brought him happiness and making memories along the way. He had a love for motorcycles, enjoyed listening to the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and was rarely without his beloved cowboy boots and hat. A simple man who appreciated the little things in life, Jody had a personality that was uniquely his own.

Known for his memorable stories and his signature phrase, “Like I said,” Jody had a way of keeping people entertained and leaving them with something to remember. Whether sharing one of his many interesting tales or satisfying his ever-present sweet tooth, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His easygoing spirit, distinctive personality, and unforgettable sayings made him someone who could never be mistaken for anyone else.

Above all else, Jody cherished his role as “Pop” to his only granddaughter, Madalyn Grace. She held a special place in his heart, and being her Pop was a title he wore with pride. The love he had for her was immeasurable, and the memories they shared will forever remain a treasured part of her life.

Though Jody’s time here has come to an end, the spirit of the free-spirited man who loved his motorcycles, his music, his cowboy boots, and a good story will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, cherished memories, and a lifetime of stories that will surely be told for years to come.

Jody will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. And as those who knew him best reflect on his life, they can almost hear him saying one more time, “Like I said.”
