Remembering Clement Scott Yeager III

Clement Scott Yeager, III passed away October 11, 2026, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital surrounded by family. He was born August 15, 1948, and was 78 years old. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday October 24, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, Louisiana with the Reverend Canon John Bedingfield officiating.

Scott was a 1967 graduate of Bolton High School and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Scott was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church in Alexandria. His grandfather, Clement Scott Yeager, Sr., was the resident architect of the present St. James Episcopal Church. Scott worked for his father’s architectural engineering firm for 35 years. He had his pilot’s license and flew around the state to check on various job sites. He was also a longtime member of the Alexandria Lions Club.

Scott was a curious person who loved to learn how things worked and the mechanics of engines. He loved anything with a motor: cars, airplanes, trains, lawn mowers, go karts, Lionel trains, Corvettes, and car racing. He was fortunate to attend two of his favorite events-the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500.

Scott showed his family small and large acts of kindness. He was the primary caregiver for his father for 5 years and never complained. He was also so interested in his nine nieces and nephews and always looked forward to their visits. He bought and maintained two golf carts for them to roam around the yard and woods at their family home. You could look out the window all day and see golf carts racing by with 4-5 children screaming, laughing and hanging on! These grown nieces and nephews still talk and laugh about those fun times today.

Scott grew up in a large close-knit family that included five siblings and many local cousins that all attended the same schools. Weekends were often spent with many of them at their homeplace with the boys exploring the creeks and woods while the girls were riding horses. Their grandmother, Grace Patricia Martin Yeager, often had a table filled with various grandchildren for Saturday lunch which always included fried chicken and mashed potatoes. She made each of her grandchildren feel like they were “the favorite”.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Winona Pace Yeager and Clement Scott Yeager, Jr. and his nephew Lockridge Pace Harris. Scott is survived by his siblings Nona Yeager, Jane Harris, Allison Earle (Jerry), Martin Yeager (Jean), Grace Ponthie (Ross). Also, nieces and nephews and their families: Hayden Earle (Vanessa), Elizabeth Earle Conner (Ben), Harrison Yeager (Tiffany), Barrett Yeager (Amy), Lawson Yeager (Arlene), Caroline Ponthie Hotze (Ernest), Emily Ponthie, Abigail Ponthie, Scott Ponthie, Brandi Harris, Emma Harris, Wells Earle, Coates Conner, Grace Conner, Caroline Conner, Margaret Hotze, Harrison Hotze.
