John Bell and Michael Simpson fashioned an 8-under-par score of 46 to win the 8th annual Trotter/Brame Memorial Scramble at the venerable Bringhurst Golf Course Sunday.
Fifty-four teams competed in the 18-hole tournament on a beautiful day that began at 7:30 a.m. with temperatures in the high 40s. The tournament ran throughout the day with three tee times for 18 teams each. Gus Glankler and Frank Brame finished second in the championship flight with a 47 score and Jarret Watson and Joey Wancewicz took third place with a 48.
Some golf celebrities took part in the event, including Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, who is a Lafayette resident, and U.S. Amateur Four-Ball winner and Louisiana Amateur Player of the Year Grady Brame Jr., who lives in Hammond. Brame and Jay Bankston posted a 49 score as did Scott and Paul Glankler.
