Mrs. Coody, 88, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Ochsner LSU Health, Shreveport, LA.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother whose life was marked by faith, family, and a heart for serving others. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit forty-nine states. She enjoyed keeping her mind sharp by working crossword puzzles and relaxing while watching a good Western.

Her greatest passion was missions, both locally and abroad. Alongside her husband, she helped establish churches in Colorado, Texas, and Nicaragua, as well as smaller churches around the world. Her dedication to sharing the Gospel and reaching others for Christ was an important part of her life and a lasting reflection of her faith.

She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her adventurous spirit, her sharp mind, and her unwavering commitment to the Lord and His work. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the ministry she helped build throughout the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Coody; her parents, Columbus Atwood, Sr. and Stella Atwood; four brothers, Donald Atwood, Stanley Atwood, Columbus Atwood, Jr., and Charles Atwood; two sisters, Frankie Swank and Madie Gunter; and special niece, Poochie Gal.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include five sons, John Coody (Donna) of Branson, Missouri, Karl Coody of Pineville, Kenneth Coody (Sylvia) of Pineville, Greg Coody (Carol) of Pineville, and Frank Coody of Pineville; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
