Members of Rapides Parish Fire District 18 recently visited Carter C. Raymond Junior High School to educate students about fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and potentially lifesaving safety practices. During the visit, firefighters spent time with students discussing important fire safety measures and explaining how to respond in the event of a fire.
The educational program covered several key topics, including the importance of working smoke alarms, developing a home fire escape plan, and knowing when and how to call 911 during an emergency. Firefighters emphasized that understanding these basic safety procedures can make a significant difference when emergencies occur. The visit also provided students with an opportunity to interact with local firefighters and learn more about the role emergency responders play in protecting their communities.
Rapides Parish Fire District 18 expressed appreciation to the school’s faculty and staff for welcoming its members and allowing them to share fire prevention information with students. The department noted that teaching students how to recognize potential dangers and respond appropriately can help protect both students and their families.
Fire District 18 also encouraged families to continue discussing fire prevention at home, including reviewing emergency escape plans and ensuring smoke alarms are functioning properly.
