In this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association Top 10 Class 5A poll, Alexandria Senior High’s rout of West Monroe last Friday didn’t have the desired effect on the state rankings.
The Trojans (5-1) ripped the Rebels 44-7, but the top four teams in the poll held serve and didn’t drop. ASH edged up from sixth to fifth after last week’s No. 5, Brother Martin, was blasted 33-10 by No. 4 Archbishop Rummel in a Catholic League showdown.
ASH crosses the Red River Friday night to play Pineville.
Tioga gained seven points in the Class 4A poll, and is just two slots out of the top 10 after its third straight win, 28-13 over District 1-5A foe West Ouachita. The Indians face a stiff challenge Friday visiting a 5-1 Class 5A opponent, Dutchtown.
No other Rapides Parish teams are getting voting support.
Nineteen teams in this week’s voting are from the 318 area code, including 14 among the 50 who are ranked in their classification’s top 10.
Eleven sports media members in the LSWA are polled weekly to compile the rankings.
