Wilking bolsters her campaign funding; Mercer report apparently not required

By JIM BUTLER

Ball Mayor Gail Wilking has loaned her reelection campaign $10,000 to help get her message out.

According to a campaign finance report required 30 days before the November 3 election, she had raised an additional $4,700 in contributions.

Her opponent, Marc Mercer, has not filed the report, indicating his expenditures or contributions from others were less than $5,000 in the reporting period.

Wilking lists 12 contributors, with Billy McKay’s $1,000 leading the list.

The $4,700 raised is actually $300 shy of the amount requiring reporting.

Wilking reported $6,000 in campaign expenses and had $8,800 on hand at the filing date.

Ethics Administration records indicate Mercer last filed in March 2020, a final accounting from an October 2019 campaign.
