Remembering Latrice Herrington Winegeart

The family of Latrice Herrington Winegeart is deeply saddened to announce her passing on September 23, 2026 at the age of 62 at her home. Born on June 17, 1964 in Lecompte, LA,

Latrice lived a full and wonderful life full of love and travel. A stranger to no one and a friend toall, she touched the hearts of everyone she met through her warm and friendly spirit.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Tara Winegeart of Baton Rouge, LA and Dena Winegeart of Tacoma, WA, her brother Kenneth “Boo” Herrington of Pineville, LA and her sister Sheila George of Alexandria, LA, along with a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Latrice is preceded in death by the father of her children and former husband of 36 years, Mark Winegeart, her brother Cutis Herrington, her father Kenneth “Red” Herrington, and her mother Corliss “Mit” Wright. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Latrice retired after a 20-year-long career as a bank teller from Union Bank of Alexandria, later First Guaranty Bank, wherein she met and served many members of our local community. She was beloved by many for her kindness, bright smile, and the genuine care she showed for each person she encountered. Latrice loved to travel the United States and vacationed in the Great Smoky Mountains over 25 times throughout her life. She was also a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Football and Baseball, and never missed a chance to cheer on her teams. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. A memorial donation can be made in Latrice’s honor to the Friends of the Smokies, the non-profit organization that supports the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, her “happy place.”
