Challengers for Alexandria council member at-large and city marshal were essentially out of campaign funds with a month remaining before the November 3 election.
Meanwhile the incumbents had thousands remaining, according to reports filed for the October 3 deadline.
Marshal Jerome Hopewell reported raising $56,000, with about $48,000 on hand.
His opponent, Cedric Green, had raised $4,500 and had $400 on hand.
Incumbent councilman Jim Villard reported contributions of $20,000 and a balance of $17,500. Challenger Gregory Scott reported $260 in contributions and $1,375 in-kind. He reported a zero fund balance.
According to the report, Hopewell contributors included:
$6,000 – Samuel T. Mahfouz;
$1,500 – Jack Rabbit Nursery, Damon Horieh, J. Duncan Enterprises, Law Offices of John R. Flynn, Neblett Beard & Arsenault, Ritchie Real Estate;
$1,000 – Chris J. Roy Jr. APLC, A&S Express Water, Bobby Byrd, C. Hugh Tarver Jr. & Associates, Central Management Company, Frank K. Chandler Jr., Matthew R. Davis, Charles W. Dewitt Jr., Mark Wood Sheriff Campaign Fund, Phillip Terrell Campaign Account, Courtney P. Richter DDS.
Villard contributors included:
$3,000 – Sam Mahfouz;
$2,500 – Pearce Companies;
$1,000 – Balm LLC, CMC Property, Petron, Ralph O. Sisco, Jeremiah Supple, Joseph Vercher.
