LSU AgCenter Accepting Applications for Summer Internship Positions in Rapides Parish

Rapides Parish residents who are current or rising college juniors, seniors, or graduate students have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside LSU AgCenter Cooperative Extension educators this summer. The LSU AgCenter is accepting applications for up to 30 internship positions statewide, including placements at the parish level throughout Louisiana. Students studying agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, extension education, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Interns will earn $15 per hour and work approximately 10 to 12 weeks during the summer, completing a project, report, and video highlighting their experience. Academic credit may be available through participants’ college advisors. Applications are open through 11:59 p.m. Nov. 15, 2026.
DOTD Announces Nightly Lane Closures at Nine Rapides Parish Intersections Through Oct. 2

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that nightly alternating lane closures are in effect at multiple intersections across Rapides Parish through approximately Friday, October 2, weather permitting. Work runs from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Affected locations include US 167-B at Broadway Avenue; Broadway Avenue and Dallas Avenue; Louisiana 28 at Pinehurst Drive and Bradley Avenue; Louisiana 28 at Stilley Road and Old Holloway Road; Donahue Ferry Road and Louisiana 3100 (Griffith Street); Louisiana 28 and Louisiana 3144 (Edgewood Drive); Louisiana 28 and Highland Drive; US 165 at the US 167 southbound on and off ramps; and US 165 at Louisiana 623 (Paradise Road). The closures are part of Project H.012641, District 8’s Flashing Yellow Arrow Upgrade Part 2.
