Perspective changes

The gorgeous full moon reflecting in our share of the bayou Sunday night prompts recall of a moon watch years ago.

The ballyhooed “bloody moon” about this time of year in 1982 was greeted at our place with an urban backyard filled with people eating barbecue, frying fish and drinking root beer.

The declared-rare lunar event was cheered by all, with some wondering if they would see the next one — in 2015, which seemed then almost as distant as the moon.

Come 2015, the two of us debated whether to venture onto the deck of our by then rural locale and disturb the various nocturnal creatures, most not friendly sorts. We stayed in.

And we didn’t bother to speculate whether we would see the predicted next one — in 2033.
