Mr. Coutee, age 72, of Lena passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mickal Coutee was born on October 25, 1953 to A,M, and Polly Coutee in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mike, as he was known to his friends and family, grew up in Boyce, LA and graduated from Boyce High School. If you lived in Boyce, you probably remember seeing Mike riding his horse around town. He retired from AT&T after thirty-eight years of service. He was well known for his love of music and for playing with his band, Pure Country and continuing to play with Jerome Fletcher, Frank Willis, Jamesette Kile, Lynn Basco, Carl Huffman, and Georgie Guinn for as long as they were all able.

Mike was known for being friendly, but most of all, he was known for his sense of humor. He always had a quick wit, and his goal was to make someone laugh-which he usually succeeded in doing. If Mike was in the room and you heard laughter, he was usually at the center of it.

Mike never met a stranger and once he considered you a friend, he would do anything for you. He had a way of showing kindness to strangers who often became lifelong friends. Mike had many loves in his life, but none greater than his wife of fifty-two years, Colleen (Holmes) Coutee. They were together for a total of fifty-five years and did everything side by side. From working on their property to going fishing on their party barge, taking a ride on their golf carts, they enjoyed life together. And if the right song was playing, you could almost always catch them dancing.

Mike and Colleen also loved taking vacations and camping with their girls, Tiffani (Mike) Farmer and Lillian (Carlos) Feliciano. He was beloved by his daughters, and no matter what they needed, their mama and daddy were always there for them-from moving them states away to traveling across the United States to visit them and their husbands. Mike also cherished being a Poppy to his three grandchildren; Laura (Jacob) Weaver, Andrew Farmer, and Logan Farmer. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Aurora (Rory) Weaver.

Mike served on the board for Bay Springs Cemetery from 1994 until 2024, giving many years of service to the care of the cemetery and his community.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, as well as his many nieces and nephews, especially Andrea Brossette, Garrett Nichols, and Ashley Richard, who have been a blessing to the family during this difficult time. His extended family, who have also been there for the family during this time; their support has been so appreciated. They are his sisters-in-law, Collette (Bill) Flowers, Candice (Will) Nichols, and Valerie (John) Wilson; his brothers-in-law, Chuck (Diane) Holmes and Cy Holmes. Along with numerous friends and family members, all will remember Mike and cherish the memories he left behind. There will undoubtedly be stories told about Mike Coutee form years to come, most likely with laughter. His humor, kindness, friendship, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He will never be forgotten.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Michael Farmer, Carlos Feliciano, Andrew Farmer, Garrett Kile, Garrison Nichols, AJ Richard, Jacob Weaver, and Jerome Fletcher.
