The 9th Judicial District Court held its 2026 Opening of Court Sept. 9 in Rapides Parish, featuring Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Jay McCallum as the guest speaker.

The event included the introduction and welcome of new attorneys, recognition of Louisiana State Bar Association members admitted for more than 50 years, and presentation of the Debbie Smith Award, Most Valuable Pro Bono Attorney Award and Causidicus Award.

The Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office thanked those who attended and participated in the event.
