The Louisiana Christian Wildcats shocked the college football world last week with Thursday’s 42-37 upset of Northwestern State in Natchitoches.

Saturday, they open their home season at 6 o’clock trying to sustain that surge of momentum and begin defense of their 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference co-championship as Langston visits Pineville.

The Wildcats won 31-24 at Langston on Labor Day weekend last season to begin their 2025 SAC success. Langston did not play a Week Zero game last week and will be opening its season at LCU. The Lions were 3-7 a year ago.

LCU rallied from a 27-14 halftime deficit at NSU, playing nearly error-free while the Demons lost two fumbles in the red zone and suffered a Pick Six interception that Ernest Mitchell returned 42 yards in the third quarter. That was part of a 21-point third period that lifted LCU ahead to stay.

The Wildcats got 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Datlan Cunningham, and 178 yards passing on 14-of-25 aim with just one interception by Bryce Perkins. Omarius Davis made 10 receptions for 81 yards and one of the TDs.
