Wednesday nights are getting busy again as The Gathering returns to First United Methodist Church of Alexandria for the 2026–27 school year. Beginning September 9, The Gathering offers a midweek opportunity to share a fresh-cooked meal, enjoy fellowship, and choose from a variety of activities and programs following dinner.
The Wednesday night meal is served from 5–5:45 p.m., with dine-in and takeout options available. Meals are $6 per plate for adults and children ages 13 and older, $3 for children ages 4–12, and free for children under 3. The maximum cost per household is $18. Cash and Square debit and credit payments, including Tap & Pay, are accepted.

After the meal, there are several ways to spend the evening.
Wesley 2.0 offers a reflective, Scripture-based discussion featuring sermons by John Wesley with an “AI twist.” The interactive group provides an opportunity to explore the Wesleyan way through a different kind of discussion.
In The Studio, Rev. Jean Sanders leads Art Journaling at 6 p.m. on September 9, 16, 23 and 30. The sessions provide an opportunity to explore art journaling as part of the Wednesday evening lineup.
Those interested in Mahjong can join the Central Louisiana Mahjong group for open play at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays following The Gathering. Open play is also offered Fridays at 1 p.m.
Music is another part of the Wednesday evening schedule, with two choirs rehearsing and welcoming new members. Chancel Choir rehearses at 6 p.m., followed by Christmas Cantata Choir rehearsal at 7 p.m.
With a meal, fellowship, art, discussion, games and music all happening on Wednesday evenings, The Gathering offers something for a variety of interests—and a chance to make Wednesday night part of the weekly rhythm.
