Alexandria Senior High will chase its fifth Golden Boot Award as Rapides Cancer Center’s Kick Cancer initiative returns for the 2026 high school football season.

The program pairs Rapides Cancer Center with local football teams to generate funds for school athletic programs and the American Cancer Society. For every successful field goal, the cancer center donates $20 to the school and $20 to the American Cancer Society. Successful extra points earn a $10 donation to each. Over its first four seasons, the effort has raised more than $17,000 for the American Cancer Society, including a record $4,460 last year.

ASH claimed the 2025 title after breaking a regular-season tie with Tioga High School during the state playoffs, finishing with $770 to Tioga’s $690. Both programs return their kickers this fall: ASH’s Eli Fung, a University of Tulsa commit, and Tioga’s Ethan Bridges. The duo combined for more than 115 extra points and 12 field goals last season.

Seven Rapides Parish programs will participate in 2026: ASH, Buckeye, Holy Savior Menard, Northwood, Peabody, Pineville, and Tioga.

The regular season kicks off Friday, Sept. 4, with postseason kicks also counting toward final totals.
