The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Citizens Academy from September 1 through October 6, 2026.

The one-night-per-week class will expose citizens to how the Sheriff’s Office operates, from the initial call for service to how civil paperwork is handled.

Attendees will see K-9 and RPSO SWAT demonstrations, equipment used in search and rescue operations, and an overview of what the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit does to combat narcotics trafficking in Rapides Parish.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older. The class is limited to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
