Alexandria Man Killed in Third Street Homicide. The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the death of Patrick Battles III, 21, of Alexandria, who died from a gunshot wound sustained in the 3700 block of Third Street on the night of Thursday, August 13. Officers responded to a local hospital at approximately 10:50 p.m. after Battles arrived seeking treatment; he later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is active and ongoing. Pineville Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Runaway Teen. The Pineville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Betty Bush, 17, who has been reported as a runaway juvenile by her legal guardian. Bush is believed to be in the Pineville or Alexandria area. No additional descriptive information has been released. Anyone with information on Bush’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Pineville Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.

City of Alexandria Events Today — Reignite Initiative and Unitech Open House. The City of Alexandria has two community events scheduled for today, August 18. A Reignite Initiative community engagement session runs from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a Unitech Training Academy open house from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Both events are open to the public.
