Notes from recently posted Legislative Auditor reports:

Following up

Central Louisiana State Hospital and Pinecrest Supports and Serviced Center are correcting practices faulted in audit procedural reports. 

Such reports are follow-ups by the Legislative Auditor Office to check on status of previously noted issues. 

Auditors determined  Central lacked still adequate contols to ensure patient billing in a timely and correct manner with Medicare. 

In the review period about $110,000 was not billed and $308,000 not billed in the required time, resulting in non-payment. 

CEO Nancy Brown faulted several years of staff turnover as well as inadequate controls, which she said are now in place. 

At Pinecrest auditors found inadequate controls over resident accounts, which Brown noted in response are now operational. 

Keep them coming

The Alexandria Convention and Visitors Bureau had a governmental fund balance of $2.2 million at audit year’s end. 

That is an increase of $104,000 compared to a year earlier. 

Revenues, paced by a hotel-motel tax yielding $909,000, were $1.25 million. 

Expenses totaled $1.15 million, including $351,000 promotional costs, $309,000 salaries/benefits and $231,000 advertising. 

The fiduciary account (Randolph Riverfront Center) had revenues of $1 million, including $600,000 in taxes for other entities and $400,000 rental income. 

Expenses were $1.2 million, about evenly divided between salaries/benefits and operations/maintenance.
