It took a while but Project Pixel is a done deal and the dots connected.
The England Authority in December created a subdistrict to facilitate an unnamed economic development project, without the hubbub that has accompanied some enterprises.
The subdistrict is adjacent to the Coca-Cola facilities at LA 28 West and Allison Drive.
Pixel is the $106 million expansion announced Tuesday by Coca-Cola UNITED. Coca-Cola has been business in the city since 1906.
About 75 new jobs are expected as a result of the expansion of the warehouse and distribution operation, with about 200 construction jobs involved.
Corporate and governmental officials spoke at Tuesday’s event, noting its significance in the community economic structure.
Terms or enticements in the development agreement, if any, were not discussed.
As with most projects of such magnitude there were, separate sources say, sticking points to be resolved. Ultimately, to borrow from Coco-Cola marketing, all parties sang in perfect harmony.
The company said the investment reflects its long-term commitment to its employees, customers and the local community.
Construction is expected to begin in February 2027, with the upgraded operation scheduled to begin in October 2028.
