Funeral services for Mr. Darvis Lynn Delaney will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Russell Cobb officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Ball, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Delaney, 80, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Darvis Delaney was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, faithful friend, and a blessing to so many whose lives he touched. He was a man whose love for his family and his community was evident in everything he did.
Darvis would have celebrated sixty years of marriage to the love of his life, Mary Maxine Delaney, on August 26, 2026. His two daughters were among his proudest accomplishments and the light of his life. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and found immense joy whenever he was surrounded by them. They lovingly called him “Dobber,” a name that will forever carry the warmth and love they shared with him.
Darvis enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and watching Western movies. He also had a special talent for taking naps while LSU played. His personality was larger than life, and his sense of humor was truly unparalleled. He had a way of bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
A quiet prayer warrior, Darvis faithfully led his family and those around him through God’s Word and his prayers. His faith was woven into the way he lived and the way he cared for others.
Darvis was a long-time employee of Rush Funeral Home, where he faithfully served the families of his community for many years. His dedication to his profession and the families entrusted to his care was a true reflection of his compassionate heart. He was honored as Funeral Director Assistant of the Year in 2020, a recognition that reflected his commitment to serving others with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. For Darvis, serving families was more than a profession, it was a calling. He was a faithful friend to all and was always willing to listen, lend a helping hand, offer wise counsel, or simply be present when someone needed him.
Darvis gladly stepped into the role of father figure for many, never hesitating to fill the space whenever someone needed a dad. He was a surrogate father not only to his grandchildren, but also to his niece and countless others who found comfort, guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love in him. He stepped up when no one else would, freely giving his time, helping hand, and loving heart to anyone in need. Darvis never asked for anything in return.
His caring nature extended even to the stray cats that found their way to him. He lovingly gave them all the same name, “Bo Kitty.” In Darvis’s world, whenever anyone or anything needed a little love, kindness, or a laugh, he was there.
Darvis leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, laughter, generosity, friendship, and unconditional love. He was a man who faithfully served his family, his friends, his profession, and his community, always giving of himself without expecting anything in return. His presence brought comfort to many, his humor brought joy, and his faith brought strength to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Artie Delaney; two sisters, Doris Andrus and Glenda James; one brother, Alton “Bo” Delaney; and his grandson, Logan Taylor Jenkins.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Mary Maxine Delaney of Pineville; two daughters, Tish Delaney of Austin, Texas, and April Delaney (Jonathan Germany) of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Madison Delaney, Campbell Delaney, Isabella Jenkins, and Kai Delaney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
